Pilot Balloons also known as PIBAL or Ceiling Balloons

Available in colours red, blue black and white, these balloons are used in tasks such as determining cloud base, wind direction and wind speed up to 15000m. Tracking is invariably by Theodilite

Sounding Balloons

Sounding Balloons are typically used to hoist a radiosonde to a great height. The height attained is dependent on balloon size; however the larger models typically lift up to the 30,000m range.

The radiosonde sensor relays a constant stream of data to a ground station, which is then used for weather forecasting.

Near Space Photography and High Altitude Ballooning

In recent times there has been great interest to photograph the realm known as near space. The realm of near space starts at about 23km (75000 feet). The smallest size meteorological balloon recommended for near space photography is our 350 gm balloon, type CPR-350(X). The largest size we carry for this application is a 2000gm balloon, type CPR-2000.
